About This Trek
The Bajah Top trek is for those who want to push beyond the popular Serolsar Lake trail and experience the raw wilderness of the high Himalayas. Starting from Serolsar Lake, the trail continues upward through increasingly open terrain to Bajah Top at approximately 3,590 metres.
This is the least-frequented trek in the Jalori Pass region, which means you will likely have the trail entirely to yourself. The path passes through sub-alpine meadows used by local Gaddi shepherds during summer months. Wildlife sightings — Himalayan monal, barking deer, and langurs — are not uncommon on this route.
The views from Bajah Top are extraordinary. On a clear day, the panorama extends deep into the Great Himalayan National Park, with a vast landscape of forested ridges and snow-capped peaks stretching to the horizon. The sense of wilderness and solitude here is unlike anything found on the more popular trails.
This trek can be done as a long day hike starting very early from Jalori Pass, or as a two-day trip with camping near Serolsar Lake or in the meadows below Bajah Top. Hiring a local guide is strongly recommended as the trail is not clearly marked beyond Serolsar Lake.
For experienced trekkers looking for a genuine adventure away from all crowds, Bajah Top delivers one of the most rewarding experiences in the Kullu-Seraj region.
Tips
Hire a local guide — the trail is not marked beyond Serolsar Lake. Start by 6 AM if doing it as a day trek. Carry at least 3L of water and packed meals. Camping overnight near Serolsar Lake makes for a more relaxed experience. Avoid during and after monsoon season.
